Retrace is built to be energy positive at every step — from energy generation, to its utilisation on a day-to-day basis.

Retrace runs on energy generated and managed as per our ReJoule initiative, which is focused on energy positivity, conservation, and sustainable generation and use. The reasons for our focus on this are:

The energy used to power the world’s buildings are the cause of 60–80% of urban emissions.
The earth’s resources are being depleted at a rapid pace, one-third of which is solely consumed by the building and construction sector.
By 2025, the world is projected to have 1 billion new homes, exponentially increasing emissions and resource utilisation.
The sun powers us

A dedicated solar park, with XXX acres of solar panels turning Medapally’s plentiful sun into electricity we can use.

>12.5
acres of land in Retrace are covered by solar panels.

Every roof is a valuable source of energy.

The roof of every home and the vast clubhouse is an opportunity for harnessing the sun. Made of wooden and solar shingles, these roofs are connected to the grid — making every home a cog in our sustainable energy machine. Solar panels are also integrated into street furniture and urban amenities, scattering our energy generation capabilities and creating multipurpose and aesthetic ways to generate clean energy.

60%

of the energy generated at Retrace is solar powered.

935kWh

of power generated from the roofs of estate residences (770 kWh) and the roof of the clubhouse (165 kWh).
The ReJoule meter

It tracks and visualises every villanova’s energy data and consumption to help residents track their usage and carbon impact, and reduce consumption by 5–15%.

The meter would motivate its users to meet energy conservation goals through a challenge-and-reward system.

Dark skies, bright possibilities.

Among these modular components is a revolutionary streetlight designed to be Dark Sky Compliant — an important innovation to curtail light pollution and prevent energy wastage in one fell swoop.

Dark Sky lighting is designed to direct light to the ground, not up into the sky where it can contribute to light pollution. The streetlights at Retrace prioritise safety by reducing glare and minimising excessive brightness, ensuring optimal visibility without discomfort.

Smarter solutions for a smart city.

Apart from these streetlights, lining the paths at Retrace in strategic intervals are smart poles. Integrated in them are monitoring systems and speakers, turning the whole of the Retrace campus into a mini smart city.
